Anima Conduit

Updated August 5, 2026

A means of allowing the transfer of anima from a primary source.

Expanded explanation

A conduit is the channel through which life energy moves from where it is generated to where it is used. Marsh treats anima as something that flows between people rather than staying sealed in one, and a conduit is whatever carries it from a primary source, someone able to access anima directly, to others. The number of conduits matters in her model, since she maps the difference between many and few: energy that reaches people through only a small number of channels is easier to control, block or tax than energy that flows through many. Conduits are how secondary anima reaches those who cannot access it directly, which puts the term at the centre of how energy is shared and how it can be captured.

Examples

Many conduits
Energy that reaches people through many independent channels is hard to choke off or monopolise.
Few conduits
When anima reaches a group through only a small number of channels, whoever controls them controls the supply.
A blocked conduit
Cutting the channel between a primary source and those who depend on it starves them of secondary anima.

How others use it

The idea of a conduit for energy or influence is a common metaphor across many fields. Marsh's use is literal within her model: a definite means by which a measurable thing, anima, moves from a primary source to others, with the count and control of conduits determining who gets energy and who can withhold it.
